We are seeking skilled equipment operators, general laborers, form carpenters and cement finishers for concrete work on Heavy Highway Construction projects in the Kansas City Metro area. The ideal applicant will possess the ability to complete tasks in multiple trades.

Estimating & Contracts Support Manager:

 

Accountable For:

 

  • Full and complete Subcontractor/Vendor Scope Coverage & Solicitation.

  • Managing/Maintaining Subcontractor/Vendor/Engineer/Owner Solicitation Databases.

  • Managing MBE/WBE/DBE Best Faith Efforts, Solicitation, and Goals.

  • Managing Qualifications for all Bid Proposals, RFQ's and RFP's.

  • Timely and Accurate Contract Requirements information to Bond & Ins. Broker.

  • Estimate Bid Form Matching Proposal Bid Form.

  • Timely, Accurate & Complete Bid Proposals, RFQ's and RFP's.

  • Coordination with Bond & Ins. Broker to fully execute contract documents after the win.

 

Required Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Extensive knowledge of general contracting processes, rules, and procedures.

  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, selection, and uses of all types of construction, and rehabilitation contracts.

  • Working knowledge of heavy highway, water/wastewater, parks, trails, buildings, bridges, sustainable, and design/build projects.

  • Skilled in performing engineering computations, estimates, and measurements.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Knowledge of basic construction management techniques.

  • Ability to understand construction faults when working with technical managers.

  • Ability to work with subcontractors, government agencies, and Architects/Engineers.

  • Ability to manage and coordinate multiple bid proposals and contracts concurrently.

  • Strong teamwork skills.

  • Even Stronger Ownership mentality.

 

Responsibilities Include:

 

Prior to bid date

  • Keep Bid Schedule up to date and distribute twice per week.

  • Order all bid documents and distribute to Estimating staff and DropBox Plan Room.

  • Ensure Estimating Staff and DropBox Plan Room are up to date with all current Addenda (Verify all addenda are received prior to bid day).

  • Manager the "Bid Documents" Check List for each proposal.

  • Review Complete Set of Bid Documents (Plans, Specifications, Addenda, Soil Reports, Etc.).

  • Analyzes problems regarding contract specifications requirements and obtains timely pre-bid resolution to these issues.

  • Visits Project Site and Complete Pre Bid Site Observation (Take Photos).

  • Schedule and Attend Pre-Bid Meeting (Coordinate/Confirm Replacement Attendee if Unable to Attend).

  • Complete Bid Bond Request/Insurance information for Lead Estimator review to Submit to Bond/Ins. Broker for Review (On Week Prior to Bid Date).

  • Complete Solicitation Form and Include Highlighted Scopes (One Week Prior to Bid)(Follow Up on Highlighted List w/Lead Estimator to Call Specific Subcontractors/Vendors).

  • Verify Setup of Bid in B2W Estimate (Estimate Information Required Fields Completed and Bid Form/Bid Items Verified).

  • Assist with Quantity Takeoff and Send Material Request to Vendors Three (3) Days Prior to Bid Date (Bluebeam Revu and Earthworks).

  • Assist with Obtaining Minimum Three (3) Bids per Scope/Material> $2,500.

  • Assist with Track/Communicate with Subcontractors and Vendors Bidding Jobs (Follow Up One Day Prior to Bid Date).

  • Manage and keep up to date Qualifications for all types of projects. Add new projects to qualifications as they are acquired.

  • Schedule delivery of bid submittals.

  • Bid Form (Identical to Form Submitted by Lead Estimator on Bid Day).

  • Ensure timely Final Estimate Numbers and all other bid form "write-ins" from Lead Estimator with 100% accuracy without exception.

 

Post Bid Date

  • Send Bid results to Bonding Co. and all employee owners

  • Enter bid results in B2W Estimate database.

  • Submit Post-Bid REquired Documents (Qualifications, MBE,WBE, DBE Participation, etc.) Within Required Timeline.

  • Add New Vendors and Subcontractors tabbed by Estimators to Internal Databases (Aquire Bid Folder for Filing).

  • Manage new contracts as they are acquired for complete compliance back to the Owner and assign project team for construction.

Construction Superintendent:

Capable of managing all aspects of a project from startup through final completion.

 

Duties include building and maintaining owner relationships, project scheduling, managing labor, equipment and subcontractors, monitoring and tracking project cost with a comparison to project budget, selective project manager roles and completing daily logs online for projects that range from 100K to 8M.

Position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience and a 4-year degree in engineering or construction related program or equivalent combinations of technical training and experience.

Superintendent/Project Manager/Estimator Internships are available to individuals seeking a 4-year degree in Engineering and/or Construction Management.

 

Internship Information:

  • No travel required. All work is within 50 miles of downtown Kansas City, MO

  • Will perform a wide variety of tasks including Estimating, Project Management, and Superintendent duties

  • Laptop and personal protective equipment are provided
