Giving Back

Salvation Army

Every year Mega Industries Corporation chose a recipient for our yearly Thanksgiving donations.  In 2017 we chose The Salvation Army to receive 60 full Thanksgiving dinners to be distributed within our own community.

The Salvation Army is dedicated to the advancement of the Christian religion thru education, the relief of poverty, and other charitable objects that benefit their community or the community of mankind as a whole.

Operation Breakthrough

Operation Breakthrough is one of the largest single-site early education and social services facility in the State of Missouri serving 400 children daily from the urban core. Their vision is to allow all children to have the opportunity to achieve their full potential.

Mega Industries Corporation is a very family oriented company and found Operation Breakthrough’s vision inspiring and a worthy recipient of our annual Thanksgiving Day donations. Every year the employee owners pool their money to provide a full Thanksgiving meal for families in need which includes turkeys purchased by the company for each meal. In November 2015 and 2016, Mega and itsemployee owners were able to provide 50 families with turkey and all the trimmings.

Searcy Creek Greenway

After Searcy Creek Greenway acquired a new playground through a foundation, the caretakers were still in dire need of a space closer to their children. Mega Industries Corporation worked in partnership with the Kansas City Parks and Recreation Department to make that happen.

Mega employees and their families gathered one Saturday morning to form concrete curbs and bench pads to serve that purpose; working with Geiger who generously donated the concrete materials needed to complete the project.

Harvesters

More than 100,000 children go hungry every day in the Kansas City metro area. While most of these children are provided with free breakfast and lunch at school, they often will go hungry over the weekend. Harvesters BackSnack program provides a backpack filled with nutritious, child-friendly food for school children to take home over the weekend.

Mega spent the day at Harvesters helping fill over 1,000 BackSnack backpacks for hungry children all over Kansas City.

New Roots For Refugees

local Boy Scout, Ian Trost, contacted Mega for help on his Eagle project – New Roots for Refugees, a charity that helps refugees cultivate their own small farm business. Ian wanted to help the farmers pour a new concrete slab so that workers didn’t have to stand in mud while cleaning their harvest. Matt Weber, with Mega Industries Corporation, spent the day teaching the Boy Scouts the process from beginning to end, and partnered with Geiger Ready Mix to supply the materials and expert advice this project needed.
